MICHIGAN CHAPTER OF CITIZENS UNITED FOR REHABILITATION OF ERRANTS (MI-CURE)

MI-CURE is a grassroots criminal justice reform organization. One of approximately 25 state chapters of National CURE, it is a membership organization with small annual dues for free-world individuals and reduced fees for prisoners. Persons who join MI-CURE automatically become members of National CURE and receive quarterly newsletters from both organizations. There are a number of local chapters throughout the state in which members can participate.

The mission of MI-CURE is to advocate for a criminal justice system that provides just consequences for criminal behavior and promotes restoration of right relationships among victims, offenders and society, while maximizing the effectiveness and availability of resources devoted to these ends. Like National CURE, members believe that prison should be used only for those who absolutely must be incarcerated and that prisoners should be given all the resources they need to turn their lives around. Through its newsletter, self-help literature and meetings, MI-CURE tries to keep its members informed of developments in Michigan's criminal justice system and to empower them to advocate for themselves and for an improved system.
